FUNDAMENTALS

OF THE FAITH

Fundaments of the Faith explores the foundations of Christian theology, covering core doctrines such as the Trinity (God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit), Salvation, the Bible, and the Church.

DISCIPLINES

An exploration of the classic disciplines, such as Scripture meditation, prayer, service, and worship. The focus is on spiritual transformation covering disciplines of engagement and disciplines of abstinence.

GOSPELS

An in-depth examination of the historical context of the world in general and Palestine in particular, before and during the life of Christ, including a study of the life of Christ as given in the four Gospels.

DISCIPLE MAKING

An examination of the gospel accounts regarding disciple making. Skills are developed and practiced to increase our effectiveness and confidence in making disciples.

A survey and examination of the historical books of the Old Testament covering the books of Joshua through Esther.

OT SURVEY I

A survey and examination of the Pentateuch (Genesis through Deuteronomy). Students consider the implications of God’s record of the origins of man and earth, the establishment of Israel, and the Mosaic Covenant.

MEN'S MINISTRY

Guiding and instructing men in discovering their individual, God-given identity for the development of Christian character. The course includes casting vision and developing a plan for continual growth.

ACTS

A study through the book of the book of Acts examining the growth of the Church and the spread of the Gospel during the first century.

ROMANS

A verse-by-verse study through Romans emphasizing Christian doctrine and theology with a focus on grasping the gospel message and its application to our lives.

CHRISTIAN

LIVING

An integration of biblical truths with practical living, MIN104 brings together experienced leaders to provide biblical guidance for living in the “real world,” bridging the gap between theory and application.

WOMEN OF FAITH

Guiding women to see themselves as the Creator sees them and providing tools to pursue a healthy (physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually), well-rounded life in service to the Lord.

HERMENEUTICS

Foundational course on how to study Scripture, covering observation, interpretation, and application. A methodical process is established as the framework for further Bible study methods.

GREEK & HEBREW

STUDY TOOLS

How to study Scripture responsibly at the word level. The use of language tools includes study and analysis in English translations and instruction on how to use Greek and Hebrew language tools.

EPISTLES I

Part 1 of a survey of 1 Corinthians through Jude examining the messages and relevance of NT epistles to our lives today. The approach is primarily chronological but also groups the epistles into Pastoral, Prison, and General categories. (Note that Romans is a separate course – BIB 106.)

Introduction to the basics of public speaking.

A survey and examination of the poetic books of the Old Testament covering Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Solomon.

METHODS OF

INTERPRETATION II

Application of the principles learned in Methods I. Various literary types in Scripture are examined. Processes are applied to the results of interpretive work to discover how biblical and systematic theology is discerned.

REVELATION

An overview giving students a broad and deep understanding of the final letter of the Bible.

The course carefully examines the text in context of the rest of Scripture.

EVANGELISM

& APOLOGETICS

An examination of defenses for the Christian faith and worldview as outlined in Scripture. Different approaches to evangelism are examined, and strategies for sharing the gospel with unbelievers are discussed throughout the course.

METHODS OF

INTERPRETATION I

Examination and practice of processes for tracing the argument of passages of Scripture, including entire books. The purpose of the writer and the structure of arguments is emphasized.

CHURCH HISTORY

The major events, ideas and people that shaped the church from the close of the book of Acts to today. Key figures of Church History are highlighted.

OF WORSHIP

Building on Spiritual Disciplines, MIN202 provides training in a biblical approach to a worship lifestyle and in its foundation for practical ministry.

TO COUNSELING

Introduction and basic understanding of counseling with an overarching perspective of the helping profession, basic tools and skills, and the art of listening.

MISSIONS

An examination of the history, practice, and theology of missions with a focus on missions in Alaska.

BIBLICAL STUDIES PROGRAM

In the two-year Biblical Studies Program students are provided with a systematic study of the entire Bible and an understanding of Christian doctrine, while immersing them in an environment that fosters transformation.

Each year is comprised of two semesters held from September through April.

ABI runs in a cohort format where a limited number of students are accepted and go through the courses together. Classes are Monday through Friday from 8:15am to 12:00pm.

The optional third year diploma in CHRISTIAN MINISTRY is for students who feel called into Christian service.

After completing the Biblical Studies Program, qualifying students have the option to enter into an internship designed to fit their interests and personal strengths. We work with each student to create a custom program to further train and equip for life and ministry.

Our third year interns organize and participate in ministry and disciple-making.
