Third Year
The third year is
designed to further equip those who feel called into full-time
Christian service. Acknowledging that the Holy Spirit alone can impart
the abilities necessary fro ministry; we desire to stir up the gifts He
has given and to encourage their development in the life of the
student. In addition to courses familiarizing the student with his or
her area of ministry, the Third Year Program will provide opportunities
to exercise that ministry under staff supervision and individual
counseling, and awards the students with a Diploma in Christian
Ministry.
OLD/NEW TESTAMENT BOOK STUDY (2 HOURS)
This course covers in detail one book each from the Old and New Testaments.
SPEECH (2 HOURS)
This is a lab course in the fundamentals of speech and Bible
exposition, using various methods of presentation, as well as
audio-visual aids and critiques.
CHURCH LEADERSHIP (2 HOURS)
This course is designed not only for those going into the ministry, but
also for any who plan to be involved in church work. Some of the
subjects taught are: Scriptural qualifications of church leaders,
church officers, and pastoral responsibilities including funerals,
baptismals, child dedication, weddings and communion.
COUNSELING (3 HOURS)
This course considers the scriptural basis for counseling, offers
Biblical counseling models, and surveys God's counsel in the seven
major areas of a person's life.
METHODS OF BIBLE STUDY AND INTERPRETATION (3 HOURS)
The first semester introduces a number of scriptural principles, which,
when violated, hinder our ability to correctly understand what God has
said. The second semester covers various methods of studying the
Scriptures.
MISSIONS (3 HOURS)
This course examines the Biblical basis and historical development of
missions, and the contemporary issues that face missions in general,
and the missionary in particular.
GREEK AND HEBREW (2 HOURS)
This course studies the fundamentals of New Testament Greek and Old
Testament Hebrew languages. The student will be given the necessary
tools to work with Greek and Hebrew at a beginning level.
STUDENT MINISTRIES (2 HOURS)
Believing that the student's training at A.B.I. must go beyond the
classroom, full-time students are required to be involved in some area
of approved Christian service. This practicum course is required each
year for graduation. |
