Second Year
A Diploma in Biblical Studies is awarded to students completing the Two-Year Program.
EPISTLES (3 HOURS)
This course surveys the full corpus of the Pauline and general Epistles, which include I Corinthians through Jude. The goal is to understand the message that was originally intended for those to whom it was written, as well as applying that message to our lives today.
CHURCH HISTORY (2 HOURS)
This course is a study of the history of the church from its inception recorded in the book of Acts to the present day. Special attention is given to the practical application of this historical journey to the modern Christian.
OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY II (3 HOURS)
In Old Testament Survey II we will examine Kings, Chronicles, and the major and minor prophets. We will spend time focusing on the historical setting of the text and its message to the modern believer.
CHOIR (2 HOURS)
Choir is an elective for the first and third year students and required in the second year. The spring choir tour is a valuable outreach providing students an opportunity to share in song and testimony.
PERSONAL EVANGELISM (2 HOURS)
Personal Evangelism is step-by-step instruction in witnessing Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit to a lost and dying world. This course helps students develop their own gospel presentation and personal testimony, and emphasizes both speech and conduct in evangelism.
POETIC BOOKS (2 HOURS)
This course covers the books of Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiates and Song of Solomon, and includes an extensive character study of the life of David.
DANIEL AND REVELATION (3 HOURS)
This course is a verse-by-verse study of these books, both of which were prophetic at the time of their writing. Daniel, which for the most part has been fulfilled, lends greatly to the understanding of Revelation which contains many yet unfulfilled prophecies. This study includes considerable practical truth, but can be considered a study of eschatology.
WOMEN'S MINISTRIES (2 HOURS)
(for women only) This course explores what it means to be a godly women. Scriptural truths, character sketches, personal applications, and testimonies will be used to aid in this study. Topics to be explored will be the student's identity as a woman and as a Christian, her roles, and her ministries.
STUDENT MINISTRIES (2 HOURS)
Believing that the student's training at A.B.I. must go beyond the classroom, full-time students are required to be involved in some area of approved Christian service. This practicum course is required each year for graduation. |
