First Year

The current curriculum includes the following courses:

ACTS & ROMANS (2 HOURS)
This in-depth study of the early church emphasizes the doctrinal and theological foundations of the Christian faith as found in these two books, and the history of the early church prior to 100 A.D.

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION (2 HOURS)
The Biblical foundation of Christian education is studied along with detailed examination of ministry to various age segments. Practical application is stressed for teaching and administering Christian education ministries in the local church and missionary environments.

CHRISTIAN LIVING (2 HOURS)
Christian Living examines some fundamental principles of living that God has explained to us in the scriptures. It addresses the question, "How then shall we live?"

FUNDAMENTALS OF FAITH (3 HOURS)
This is a study of the basic doctrines of the Christian faith, including God as Creator and Father, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, Man and his relationship with God in salvation through Christ, Judgment outside of Christ, Angels, and Satan.

GENERAL INTRO TO THE BIBLE (2 HOURS)
This course is designed to acquaint the student with the overall purpose and message of the Bible. Methods of Bible study, Biblical inspiration and application, and different translations will also be covered.

GOSPELS (3 HOURS)
This first year course surveys Matthew, Mark, Luke and John primarily through a synoptic approach. Effort is made to present the life of Jesus Christ in a chronological order.

OLD TESTAMENT SURVEY 1 (3 HOURS)
This course is a chapter by chapter survey of the first eight books of the Bible. Studied are the lives of several Old Testament characters and the rites and ceremonies of Israelite worship. In addition to principles and warnings to guide one's Christian walk, the student will observe many pictures looking forward to Christ in the fullness of His ministry.

SELECTED TOPICS (1 HOUR)
This course exposes the student body to a wide range of pertinent topics through a variety of invited speakers. Selected Topics is offered to the entire student body and not just first year students.

STUDENT MINISTRIES (2 HOURS)
Believing that the student's training at A.B.I. must go beyond the classroom, full-time students are required to be involved in some area of approved Christian service. This practicum course is required each year for graduation.
