The Faculty of ABI

Ray and Petrea Arno
President, Instructor
After graduating from Northwestern College and Pastoring in Wisconsin, the Arno’s moved to Homer, Alaska. Today, after more than 45 years as a bush missionary, pastor, teacher, and administrator, he continues to pour his life into the next generation of Christian leaders.  Ray and his wife Petrea have been married for 49 years and have 4 children and 9           grandchildren.

Stephen and Esther Napier
Vise-President, Instructor
As a former Youth and Children’s Pastor in Florida and Area Director for Child Evangelism Fellowship, Stephen brings a passion for children and missions to ABI. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies, as well as a Master’s and a Doctorate Degree in Religious Education. Stephen and his wife Esther have been married for 11 years and have 3 children, with another one on the way.

Jerry Wood
Instructor, Admissions Director
As a pastor, Jerry brings a shepherd’s heart and a scholar’s mind to the classes of ABI. After years as a contractor and in architecture, he attended Asbury Theological Seminary where he earned his Masters of Arts Degree in Theological Studies, as well as a Master of Divinity Degree.

 

Eric and Katrina Rozeboom
Instructor
As a former ABI student and dynamic communicator, Eric relates Scriptural truth to the real world for his students in an engaging manner. After meeting his wife at ABI in 2004, he has returned as a respected instructor and friend of the student body both in and out of the classroom. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies.

Gary and Sue Gray
Campus Cook and Maintenance Staff
The Gray’s began their service at ABI in 2002, they add the strong combination of a servant’s lifestyle and a heart for discipleship. Our students are so blessed every day as this couple pours encouragement, instruction, challenge and prayer into their lives.

 

Tim and Sal Harker
Married Housing Supervisors and Maintenance Staff
It is a joy to have two ABI graduates back on campus to serve and raise their family. Tim’s mechanical skills, Sal’s administrative abilities and the smiles of their three daughters make this family a tremendous asset to our campus.

 

Tami Reiser
Office Manager, Treasurer
Tami first came to ABI as a student in 1989, attending part-time while raising two children. She and her husband Dave have been married 27 years, and have lived in many of the remote villages of Alaska due to Dave’s job in construction. Tami joined the staff as secretary and bookkeeper in 1997. She is a two-year graduate of ABI and also earned a Certificate in Small Business Management for the University of Alaska


Kenny and Gail Halpin
Instructor
For over 30 years Kenny has been investing his time teaching, mentoring, and serving at ABI. In 1964 after serving in the Air Force Kenny traveled up the Alaskan Highway and arrived in Homer. He began teaching at ABI in 1970, and captained a commercial fishing boat in the summers. Through their example Kenny and Gail call students to a higher level of service, love, and humility.

Dan and Rhonda Kropf
Dorm Parents and Maintenance Staff
The Kropf’s two oldest children came to ABI as students in 2004, and the following year Dan, Rhonda and their two younger daughters moved from Michigan to join ABI’s full-time staff. They daily provide the nurture, direction and supervision to a full dormitory of students.

 

Susan Moore
Nursery Director, Summer Mission's Coodinator, InstructorSusan Moore and her two girls, Cami and Grace, came to ABI in 1997. While completing the two year program it was clear that she had a heart for Alaska missions. She began coordinating our summer missions program and pushed for more short-term mission trips in the winter, involving many students and staff. Susan teaches Woman’s Ministry and is also Director of Children’s Ministries on campus and assists in the office.

Matthew Noble
Instructor, Mission's Coordinator
While in the middle of a manufacturing career in Michigan, God called Matthew to the far north for a time of training and service.  He abandoned his known world to follow God’s leading and became a student at Alaska Bible Institute.  After completing the three-year program at ABI, he was accepted as a full-time missionary with Alaska Village Missions where he serves in the native villages and at the Alaska Bible Institute. 

Brian and Lynn Lowe
Instructor
After graduating from the second year program at ABI, Brian left for the streets of San Francisco to work in an inner-city ministry.  There he met his wife Lynn, and after joining in marriage, they returned to ABI where Brian completed the third year program. In 1990 he joined the ABI teaching staff.
Through the years Brian and Lynn have served in Mexico, pastored a chuch in Homer and have taught at ABI.
Brian’s testimony of faithfulness through suffering is life changing, and his students count themselves fortunate to sit under a teacher of such character.
